Hog Hunting

I'm looking into a hog hunt.
If you've used a guide what was your experience and what time of year did you go?
What caliber and action did you use?

Haven’t been yet, but want to.
I picked up a Ruger SFAR with a Vortex LPVO with the intention of hog shooting.

I did a guided hog hunt last spring. I used a .308 bolt-action and it worked great, the guide knew the land, which helped a lot. The cooler weather made the whole hunt easier and more enjoyable.
