I guess we have similar taste. I've been going to the woods this year with a 1949 Savage 99 chambered in 300 Savage that I purchased not long ago. It's barely bones open sights never been drilled for a scope or sling swivels. I'm carrying a suppressed Savage 110 ultralite 7mm prc if I see something to far for my open sights. And the handgun is like an American express card I don't leave home without it. This picture is my Dan Wesson RZ10 10mm in a Diamond D Alaskan Guide chest rig which normally wears center front but is around to the side because of the binoculars.
