Middle cal?

I want a training gun that offers more feedback than a .22 but isn’t as jumpy as a .38 Special. From what I’ve found, it looks like choices in that middle range are getting pretty rare.

One of the larger .380s, like an older model Berretta Cheetah (Mod. 84) or a used S&W M&P. Buy the ammo in bulk online, as off the shelf .380 is usually more expensive than 9mm. The Ammoseek site is your friend.
