I got my first BB gun in 1967, when I was 11 years old, and after showing I was responsible, I got my first .22 single shot rifle the following year. My next rifle was a Marlin 336C in 30-30, and then I got a Remington Nylon 66 .22 for cheap plinking.

My first handgun came when I was in high school; a CZ-45 .25 semi-automatic made in 1948. Once I got bitten by the handgun bug, I pretty much stopped shooting rifles, and have focused on handguns. I've owned several S&W revolvers in .38, .357 and .41, an old Colt Python, a German Luger, a couple of Dan Wesson .357s, and a Thompson-Center Contender in .357 Maximum with a 10" barrel that I used in silhouette competition when I was stationed in Arizona (1981-1986).

I currently have a S&W 686+ .357 7-shot with a factory ported 6" barrel, and I like it a lot. My other handgun is a S&W M&P C.O.R.E. 9mm, but I haven't shot it nearly as much as as the 686.
