What's the go-to 9mm ammo for self-defense in your opinion? I've been curious about hollow points and their reliability. Any experiences or recommendations?
Only experience I've had with them is with a watermelon and these R.I.P. (Radically Invasive Projectile) made a believer out of me.
Their manufactured by a company called G2 Research.
I use a Segmented Hollow Point by Federal -- Syntech Defense 9mm Luger 138 gr Muzzle Velocity 1050. In gel tests the petals that brake off of the Syntech go deeper (6/8 inches) than the R.I.P petals that only go 3 or 4 inches. Gel is calibrated with a bb at 590 ± 15 feet per second to 3 and 3/4 inch.
Another one I like is the Sellier & Bellot XRG Defense 9mm 100g Velocity – Muzzle 1312 this is a cooper round that has consistent expansion.
