Did you guys catch the latest scoop from American Rifleman? It looks like S&W is finally saying goodbye to those internal locks. I mean, does that mean our revolvers, those infamous ones with the 'Hillary Hole' are about to shoot up in value as collectibles?

I'm just not a fan of the internal lock system on S&W revolvers. I totally get why they introduced it, but it always felt like they were trying to fix a problem that didn't really exist. I've had my fair share of both pre-lock and post-lock Smiths, and I always prefer the smooth, clean sideplate. It just feels right.

It only took 30 years to eliminate that ugly hole. It actually worked fine, but most felt it was not useful. Certainly was unattractive.

I doubt that the hole is ever going to become a selling point.

I finally got around to filling the only one I had. It's a Model 69 bought last summer. My other Smiths are either pre or post hole.

It won't be new to me if the no-lock models start to get more attention now, but I really don’t think we’ll see prices increase overnight.
