I took it to the range expecting weeks of load development. First session with factory match ammo, I shot five three-shot groups, all under half an inch at 100 yards. Some rifles just come right from the factory and that was one of them.

I like what Alan said, it just makes things simpler. But I haven’t had much luck with that kind of rifle myself.

I can't say "right out of the box" because I bought it used. Mossberg Patriot Predator in .30-06, using Remington 165 grain Core Lokts...The "kicker" is I have a CVLife 6-24x56 on top. I call my set-up "Poverty Precision." I went thru a LOT of ammo trying to find out which brand and grain weight it liked, but when she told me, I made sure to get enough for a while. .5" groups, or better from 100 yards, and I do believe no one needs to shoot any better than that.

I have several that shoot like that. My Sako M995 will shoot .3 with Winchester Power Point 150s. Shoots .5 out to 800yards with my current hunting load.
