When you realized your "budget build" cost more than buying complete

I told myself I'd save money building my own AR. Started with a $60 lower, then 'upgraded' to a better barrel, nicer trigger, free-float handguard, and before I knew it I'd spent $1,400 on a rifle I could've bought complete for $900. The math didn't math, but at least I know every part intimately. That's what I tell myself to sleep at night anyway.

And you should sleep well knowing all is good in AR town. Personally i like that feeling, yeah, i went over budget but im confident we're not gonna have any catastrophic issues and she'll put nothing but hole stretchers downrange. Look at it this way, go to the hardware store and get all you need to build the pick-up truck you've always wanted and build it yourself and see how much that costs. Budgets were designed to fly out the window.

Budget build is just code for financial freestyle. At least now you’ve got a custom and a story.
