So, I've been digging into this whole binary trigger thing, and I'm a bit confused. I recently moved here, and I want to make sure I'm not stepping on any legal toes. I think I read somewhere that they were legal, but then I saw some posts that made me second guess. It's important to me because I'm looking to upgrade my setup, and I'd love to have that feature. I mean, it sounds like it could be a blast for range days! Anyone have a clear answer or personal experience with this? Would really appreciate any insight.

Yes, binary triggers are legal in Alabama, as they are not classified as fully automatic firearms under current state laws.
Legal Context
Federal Law: Binary triggers are generally legal at the federal level, as they do not convert a firearm into a fully automatic weapon. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) has clarified that binary triggers, which fire one round when the trigger is pulled and another when it is released, do not fall under the definition of machine guns.

State Legislation: In Alabama, recent legislative proposals, such as House Bill 234, specifically address trigger activators that cause a semi-automatic firearm to function as a fully automatic firearm. However, this bill does not apply to binary triggers, indicating that they remain legal in the state.

Conclusion
As of now, binary triggers are legal in Alabama, but it is always advisable to stay updated on local laws and regulations, as firearm laws can change. For specific legal advice or concerns, consulting a licensed attorney familiar with Alabama firearm laws is recommended.
