What people misunderstand about magnification

More magnification is not automatically better. At higher magnification mirage becomes more noticeable, movement feels exaggerated and small errors look much worse than they are. I actually shoot most of my longer shots at lower magnification because the image is clearer and more stable. I only dial up when I need confirmation.

Yeah, it took me a good long while to really get that. I used to just crank up the magnification, thinking it would make things easier but all it really did was make everything much harder to deal with.
